NHS 75

On Wednesday 5 July 2023, the NHS marks 75 years of service. We are celebrating this milestone by showcasing examples of innovation in the NHS from around our region and activities taking place.

Treating over a million people a day in England, the NHS touches all of our lives. When it was founded in 1948, the NHS was the first universal health system to be available to all, free at the point of delivery - as it is still today.

Thank you to all the amazing NHS staff past and present who help look after those people who need help everyday.

Happy 75th birthday!

Light up Blue

To help mark the 75th anniversary of the NHS, many buildings, NHS sites, historic monuments and other sites across the region and the country will be lit up blue on the evening of 5 July.

You can find our what sites will be lit up here.
