Much-loved Middlesbrough hospital building receives £1m makeover
A Middlesbrough GP practice based in the much-loved Carter Bequest Hospital building has received a £1.3million makeover.

Patients at Cambridge Medical Group are benefitting from the investment by NHS England, NHS Property Services and the North East and North Cumbria Integrated Care Board.
The hospital building was originally constructed in 1926 and bequeathed to the people of Middlesbrough by Thomas Carter, an Elderman of the area.
This week, Cambridge Medical Group, which has been based in the building since 1990 held an open day to proudly show off the improved facilities, with the refurbished building formally opened by the longest registered patient, 92-year old Joyce Harland.
The refurbishment has created four new consulting rooms for the GP practice and additional rooms for the delivery of community services.
Lindsay Sanderson, practice manager said: "We are delighted by our refurbished premises and are grateful for the funding and expertise which has enabled us to see the refurbishments come to life.
"Cambridge Medical Group is part of Eston Primary Care Network, providing proactive and personalised care to our patients.
"The additional space will give us more opportunity to not only have more capacity for GPs and nurses but also more multi-disciplinary team members to be based at the practice, increasing choice and access for patients to see a wider range of healthcare professionals. This creates a really exciting opportunity for our practice and the patients we serve."
Kevin Showler, NHS Property Services Managing Director North, said: “We are delighted to have been involved in this project to refurbish a building with a strong history of providing public benefit to the local population. The refurbished building will deliver thousands of extra appointments each year, using the four new consulting rooms to deliver excellent patient care to the community.”
Rebecca Warden, head of primary care for Tees Valley at the North East and North Cumbria Integrated Care Board (ICB), the organisation responsible for commissioning GP services said: "The refurbishment to Cambridge Medical Group has undoubtedly provided a much-improved environment for both patients and staff.
"The investment made and the refurbishment works that have been carried out not only meet the current needs of the GP practice and the patients they serve but ensure that the practice is well-prepared for the future, whilst also creating additional clinical rooms for use of wider clinical teams in the community."
