'Our Place, Our Say' events - share ideas, find support, and connect in Tees Valley

People with a learning disability, or autism, along with their family, friends and supporters are invited to a series of free community events across Tees Valley this autumn.

Five 'Our Place, Our Say', drop in events will run throughout October in Stockton, Redcar, Darlington, Hartlepool and Middlesbrough, offering people the chance to find out more about local support services, take part in fun activities, share ideas, and give feedback on how services can be improved.

Our Place, Our Say is funded by the North East and North Cumbria Integrated Care Board (ICB), run by Skills for People, and supported by local health services, councils, and community groups.

Liz Whitehead, commissioning manager, North East and North Cumbria ICB, said: “These events matter because they give people with a learning disability and autistic people the chance to come together, share their experiences and have their voices heard.

"They are also a great opportunity to find out about local services, connect with others, and enjoy activities in a welcoming environment. The feedback we gather will help shape better, more inclusive support for the future.”

Visitors will be able to enjoy interactive workshops and crafts, information stalls run by local support organisations and spring bulb planting. Free food and refreshments will also be provided throughout the day.

The event is fully accessible, with parking nearby, and people are welcome to drop in anytime during opening hours.
