Walk-in spring booster clinics coming to Stockton and Middlesbrough

Residents in Stockton and Middlesbrough are being encouraged to take advantage of upcoming walk-in COVID-19 vaccination clinics being held in May.

The clinics offer eligible people the chance to get their spring booster without needing an appointment, with NHS teams setting up in busy town centre locations to make vaccination as easy and accessible as possible.

Walk-in clinics will be held on:

Wednesday 20th May 10.00 – 12:30 and 13:15 - 16.00

Stockton Market, Stockton High Street, Stockton-on-Tees, TS18 1AT

Thursday 28th May 10.00 – 12:30 and 13:15 - 16.00

Inside The Live Well Centre, Centre Square, 103 Albert Road, Middlesbrough TS1 2PA

Both clinics are open to people aged 75 and over, as well as immunosuppressed individuals aged five and over.

Health leaders say the booster remains important because COVID-19 is still circulating and can continue to pose a serious risk to older people and those with weakened immune systems.

More than 180,300 people across the North East and North Cumbria have already had their spring booster, but NHS leaders are keen for more eligible people across Teesside to come forward.

Ben Anderson, director of population health, NHS North East and North Cumbria Integrated Care Board (ICB), said: “COVID-19 is not just something we see in winter.

“We still see infections during spring and summer, which is why it is important for eligible people to top up their protection and get vaccinated.

“Protection from earlier doses can fade over time, especially for older people and those with weaker immune systems. A booster helps strengthen protection against serious illness.”

The NHS is encouraging people with conditions such as cancer, severe kidney or liver disease, HIV, or those taking medicines that weaken the immune system, to get their booster vaccine as soon as possible.

People can book appointments through the NHS App, online through the NHS booking service, online through the NHS booking service or by calling 119, but those eligible can simply walk into the Stockton and Middlesbrough clinics on the day.
