Child health and wellbeing network

Our network brings together people from all sectors across the region, such as health, education, local authorities and the voluntary and community sector, to work with children, young people and their families to make sure our work is more able to support them and have a positive impact.

We are proud to be part of a small but growing network in the North East and North Cumbria that plans to make a real difference to children’s services.

We believe every child and young person should have the chance to grow, reach their potential and benefit by organisations working together."

What we are doing

A focus on inequalities is at the heart of the network's priorities and workplan. This has included:

  • Development of the new initial Poverty Proofing in Health Settings partnership with Children North East.
  • Technology inequalities project for young people with Diabetes with the North East and North Cumbria Children and Young People  Diabetes Network.
  • Regionally developed children and young people Core20PLUS5 framework and toolkit. This provides a practical approach to tackling health inequalities affecting the most deprived communities and builds on the national NHS England model to enable use across different sectors and focusing on wider determinants of health and wellbeing.
  • Development of the clinical plan specifically focusing on children and young people – which included a population health management approach with consideration of inequalities.
  • Project addressing health inequalities affecting children and young people with asthma and epilepsy. This includes North East and North Cumbria wide guidance and local innovative roles to target communities; including our Healthier Together website, app and champions programme.
