Neighbourhood health
We’re building on our successes across Northeast and North Cumbria by testing new ways to collaborate, commission, and deliver neighbourhood services—driven by local needs.
System oversight is led by the Living and Ageing Well Partnership (LAWP), ensuring shared priorities and accountability.
Locally, teams work with councils, NHS Trusts, Primary Care, and the VCSE sector to co-design services.
The Integrated Neighbourhood Health (INH) programme is now part of the ICB’s project framework, balancing structure with flexibility. The new 'ICB insight exchange' portal with population dashboards will help start to track progress, highlight variation, and guide future commissioning.
Through the Boost NENC programme and national NNHIP, we’re fostering innovation and learning across all neighbourhoods. In 2025/26, our focus was on frailty, with the rollout of a new Proactive Frailty Resource Pack supporting care for older people at home.
Looking ahead, we’ll define clear roles, priorities, and shared metrics to monitor impact and drive improvement across the region.
Health and care partners across the North East and North Cumbria are invited to take part in the first wave of the National Neighbourhood Health Implementation Programme (NNHIP) — a bold new initiative designed to reshape how care is delivered in our communities.
This is a unique opportunity to build on the fantastic work already happening across our region and to help shape a more joined-up, preventative, and person-centred approach to care at neighbourhood level.
