This accessibility statement applies to this website.

This website is run by NHS North East and North Cumbria ICB. We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website. For example, that means you should be able to:

  • change colours, contrast levels and fonts using Recite Me Listen and Translate software
  • zoom in up to 200% without the text spilling off the screen using your browser
  • navigate most of the website using a keyboard only
  • listen to most of the site using a screen reader
  • access the site using a mobile or tablet

We also try to make our website text as simple as possible to understand.

How accessible this website is

We know some parts of this website are not fully accessible:

  • Some videos do not include transcripts
  • Some PDF and word documents are not fully accessible to screen reader software
  • Some images and documents feature information that is not accessible, eg, infographics
  • Some images lack tags that are readable to screen readers and assistive technology.

Non-accessible content

Some of our PDF and Word documents do not meet the required accessibility standards. These documents do not meet the following success criterion:

  • 1.4.3 Contrast (Minimum)
  • 1.4.5 Images of text
  • 1.4.12 Text spacing
  • 2.4.6 Headings and labels

Some videos across the site are without any captions and transcripts.  There is the option of having captions on through YouTube, and are including transcripts where we can.

  • 1.2.5 Audio Descriptions (Prerecorded)

Non-compliance with the accessibility regulations

During review the following non-compliances have been discovered and aim to be resolved by 10th December 2023:

WCAG 1.4.13 Content on Hover or focus
This refers to the main menu along the top. As the mouse hovers over it, content appears and cannot be removed without moving the mouse

WCAG 1.4.5 Images of Text Home
There are images of the videos under 'Getting to know our ICB' look to be images of text for users and therefore it may not be clear what the links are

Content that’s not within the scope of the accessibility regulations

The following content is not within scope of the regulations:

  • PDFs or other documents published before 23 September 2018
    Social media buttons

Preparation of this accessibility statement

This statement was prepared on 24th November 2023 and was performed using a mixtured of automated tools and manual checking, with input from Government Digital Services. The review date is 10th November 2024.

What we are doing to improve accessibility

We are aware that there are still some changes that need to be made to the website. We are accessing training for team members to improve knowledge and skills and are planning improvements over the coming months.

We will review content when major content and layout changes take place and / or annually.
