Carers week

Celebrating unsung heroes: World Carers Week

This week, from 10th to 16th June, we celebrate World Carers Week to honour the dedication of carers in our region. These unsung heroes provide essential support to loved ones facing illness, disability, or ageing, often putting their own needs aside.

The theme, "Recognise and Support," calls for greater awareness and assistance for carers. Communities are encouraged to host events, share stories, and advocate for supportive policies.

David Purdue, chief nurse, AHP and people officer for the North East and North Cumbria Integrated Care Board sharing his voice of support this #carersweek recognise their dedication and support of carers across our region.

Carers card

Cumbria, Northumberland, Tyne and Wear NHS Foundation Trust has launched the new carers card initiative. This card allows carers to be recognised and appreciated in the community, providing access to exclusive perks, discounts, and special offers at participating trust locations.

Get involved

Tees, Esk and Wear NHS Foundation Trust (TEWV) are hosting a carers event on 11th June at Acklam Green Middlesbrough, 11am-2pm.

The event is aimed at showing carers what is available locally. We will be there alongside our friends at Teesside Mind, The Junction Foundation and hopefully many others.

If you are interested in holding a stall to connect to the local community please contact Steph directly who is coordinating the event.
