A&E and 999

Unless your condition is life threatening, please don’t just turn up or walk in to A&E. Please think pharmacist, GP or 111 first online or by phone.

Find urgent and emergency care services

A&E and 999 are there to deal with genuine life-threatening emergencies only, such as:

  • loss of consciousness
  • acute confused state and fits that are not stopping
  • chest pain
  • breathing difficulties
  • severe bleeding that cannot be stopped
  • severe allergic reactions
  • severe burns or scalds

If you do turn up to A&E, and you don’t need to be there - you may be re-directed to a more appropriate service for your needs.
