PHM analytics capacity and capability baseline exercise
The Integrating Care Next Steps paper points to the need for cross-system intelligence and analytics, which is mirrored in the March planning guidance which states that ‘Meeting population need requires smart digital foundations, connected health and care services, locally joined-up person-level data across health and care partners, and robust analytical capability aligned across system partners’.
For the North East and North Cumbria (NENC) we recognise the need to make the most of our precious analytics resources to support population health at all levels, from local work up to population health management (PHM) across the NENC region. A key first step is to understand our PHM analytics capacity and capability.
A baseline exercise will be undertaken in a series of workshops in June 2021. The exercise will use an NHS England / Public Health England tool which has already been used in 20 other ICSs across England.
This exercise is supported by the Digital Delivery Group and Digital Consortium Board, by Directors of Public Health, and by the ICS Management Group.
Following the workshops Public Health England colleagues will produce a report to include insight into capacity and capability against specific competencies, benchmarking with other ICSs, recommendations, opportunities for collaboration, and training needs.
