Public health community

Across the North East and North Cumbria there is a strong network of public health specialists who work collaboratively to address the health inequalities that exist in our region. It is only by working collectively, drawing on the knowledge and skills that exists across the region that we can make the difference to people's lives.

Our public health community

There are three priority areas, each of these have specific work programmes.

Prevention

Treating tobacco dependency

Reducing alcohol harm

Healthier weight and treating obesity

CVD Prevention

Prevention in maternity

Healthcare inequalities

Core20PLUS5 – adults

Core20PLUS5 – children and young people

Waiting well

Supporting people with multiple and complex needs

Social economic disparities

Anchor Network

Poverty proofing (clinical pathways)

Digital inclusion

Health literacy

We use data and evidence to identify our priorities where we can have the biggest improvements in population health. Our public health colleagues work collectively to support the delivery of the priorities at place and across the region. There is a commitment to utilise the public health expertise and share learning in order to avoid duplication and to scale up activity across the region where required.

The table below shows how we are working together on our priorities and supporting work programmes.
